This community arts festival delivers fun for everyone and is a showcase for locally-made art, food, arts education and entertainment. Our festival has grown from a modest beginning in 2002 to a signature summer event for Waterbury. The Waterbury Arts Fest wouldn’t happen without the ongoing support of dedicated volunteers, a growing awareness of the importance of the arts to our local economy and quality of life, and the generous support of our sponsors!

The 2013 Waterbury Arts Fest will take place Friday evening, July 12 & Saturday, July 13, 10 am to 4pm.

The Vermont Ski Areas Association website, Vermont Ski, has posted a listing of tentative openings and news about each VT ski area. We’ve had some natural snow at the upper elevations and temperatures are plenty cold, so the ski areas have been running the snow guns. Right now, it looks like these are realistic target dates.

Stowe is a good place to head to today. It’s the final day for the Stowe Farmers Market , 10:30 to 3:00, for the season and it is also the final day for Stowe Resort’s Toll Road, gondola, alpine slide and bungee trampoline, climbing wall and obstacle course. Afterwards, we suggest continuing north on Route 108 (Mountain Road)  for a unique drive through Smugglers’ Notch. It will be closing soon too for winter and won’t reopen until late Spring.

Looking for some suspense, intrigue, mystery, betrayal, and revenge in your life? We have just the answer for you. Hamlet by William Shakespeare is being performed this month at the Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier. One of the greatest plays of all time. You should see it at least once in your life!

The leaves at the higher elevations are past peak and many have fallen due to wind and rain but the Champlain Valley looks like a good bet this weekend.

Today is the final Waterbury Farmers Market until the winter series gets started. It’s your last chance to get some great prepared food while shopping for locally grown produce and meats.  Stop by the Rusty Parker Park on Main Street between 3:00 and 6:30 pm, enjoy the rain free weather (we promise!), chat with some friendly folks, and be sure to visit the train station too.
